EGO mix

When I was but a wee lass I was terrified of all my dad’s friends. I would meet or see them and inevitably they would burst into the Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday.” Without fail. I would sit in my chair shrinking further and further under the table or hide behind my dad and wait for the inevitable “I bet you’ve gotten that before…” conclusion to the horror. I would smile and nod and my dad would laugh and then finally I would be relieved of the attention and could go back outside and play until the next time, or lunch, or whatever.

In the past couple years however, I have stopped cowering behind my dad and have embraced the use of my name in song. Though I’m not a big Kaiser Chiefs fan, I willingly added their single off of Yours Truly, Angry Mob to my "ego mix" (no I'm not ashamed to admit I have an ego mix). The track, "Ruby," joins the Stones, the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and a handful of others. I suggest that everyone try and make themselves an Ego mix; it just makes you feel cool.

Off of my mix (follow the link):

"Ruby" (Kaiser Chiefs)

"Ruby" (Ray Charles)

"Ravishing Ruby" (Tom T Hall)

Though my grandmother may be right in saying my name makes me sound like a prostitute I've come to enjoy it and the wealth of music its thrown my way. And between Ruby and Reggie (my wonderful father's runner up choice of a name for me) I'd take Ruby (sorry to all you Reggie and the Full Effect aficionados).

Fathers love to terrify their daughters - usually by making terrible puns. They rarely realize how scarring these incidents can be...but, remember, I also introduced you to "King of the Cannibal Islands" and other classics!

Congrats bro Anonymous you got PERTAMAX...! hehehehe...
